Nurses in all settings are often asked to classify wounds. This includes determining the cause and assigning a stage if a pressure injury. But not all wounds are pressure injuries. This program will discuss the usual pressure injury and the unusual wounds that get misclassified. Emphasis will be placed on how to know the difference.

Objectives: 

At the completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  1. Explain the purpose of staging pressure injuries
  2. Differentiate the six stages of pressure injury from each other
  3. Describe common wounds misclassified as pressure injury
